County Clerk: 65 cents per page, minimum $1.30, maximum $40 per record (CPLR 8019(f)); NYC City Register: $1.00 per page uncertified (printing from ACRIS on your own computer is free)2

How to search

Outside NYC: search or request at the County Clerk of the county where the property is located (online systems vary by county). NYC (except Staten Island): ACRIS online or in person at the City Register; Staten Island: Richmond County Clerk's block/lot search3

Transfer-on-death deeds are allowed in New York and must be filed with the county clerk before the owner's death5

Mortgages, liens and other real-property documents are recorded with the County Clerk (NYC: City Register / Richmond County Clerk); NYC City Register also files federal tax liens ($40) and issues federal tax lien search certificates ($25)1
