  • Until 2016 Kenton County had two recording districts, Covington and Independence; Independence recorded deeds, mortgages and easements, so tax, probate and court documents are likely in Covington.13
  • Independence plats use slide numbers with an A, B or Z prefix; 'Z' plats had not been added to the online database as of 2/1/2026.20
  • The Clerk's marriage license index for Covington starts in 1874; land-record indexes (deeds, mortgages, easements) start 05/91.2
  • The County Clerk will not record a health care power of attorney or living will, citing an Attorney General's opinion.15
