Copy fee

$1.00 per page for copies 11 x 17 inches or smaller; $5.00 per page for larger copies (IC 36-2-7-10), statewide statutory recorder fee2

$5.00 per document to certify (plus the $1/page copy fee)2
Recording fee
Deed or other instrument (other than mortgage) $25.00; mortgage $55.00 (IC 36-2-7-10). The $2.00 county identification security protection fee (IC 36-2-7.5-6) is included in these recording fees (SBOA fee table), not added on top. A county may add a $10.00 affordable-housing fee per document by county council ordinance.2
Bulk copy fee
Bulk users: $0.10 per page, up to $0.20 with a county ordinance (IC 36-2-7-10.1)2

Recording Indiana residents' military discharges is free; one free certified copy to veterans, widows or dependents in qualifying cases2

Mechanics', HOA, sewer, federal and other real-property liens are recorded with the county recorder2

Court judgments become liens on real estate via the clerk's judgment docket ($3 to record transcript of judgment)3

How Indiana handles it

  • Clerk of the Circuit Court handles marriage licenses. Marriage licenses and copies come from the county Clerk of the Circuit Court, not a county clerk/recorder or health department6
