Divorce records: who holds it
Decree and case file: clerk of district court in the county where granted. Divorce/annulment reports are sent monthly to the state registrar, so WDH Vital Statistics Services can issue divorce certificates.5
Older records: public vital records
Records past the confidentiality periods (100 years births, 50 years others) are requested from the State Archives instead of WDH.6

How Wyoming handles it

  • In smaller counties (other than first- and second-class), the elected county clerk is also ex officio clerk of district court, so deeds, marriage licenses, elections and court files may sit in one office7
