How Alaska handles it
- No counties: Alaska is divided into organized boroughs (some unified city-boroughs) and one unorganized borough with no borough government. County-level record functions are handled by the state (deeds, UCC, courts, vital records, business names) or by boroughs/cities (property tax).8
- Unified state court system with four judicial districts; marriage licenses can be obtained at most court locations as well as Vital Records.9

Official copies vs look-alike sites
A certified copy comes only from the office that holds the record; reports and "research copies" sold by commercial sites are not issued by any Alaska office. How to tell an official record source from a paid look-alike.
