How Idaho handles it

  • County Clerk is ex officio Recorder, Auditor and Clerk of the District Court: one elected office records deeds, issues marriage licenses, runs elections and keeps trial-court files9
  • Court records follow Idaho Court Administrative Rule 32, not the Public Records Act; statewide case search moved to courts.idaho.gov on Oct. 28, 2026 (old iCourt Portal retired by end of 2026)3

Official copies vs look-alike sites

A certified copy comes only from the office that holds the record; reports and "research copies" sold by commercial sites are not issued by any Idaho office. How to tell an official record source from a paid look-alike.
